SAMPLE SCHEDULE
The objective of Truth & Reconciliation Experience is
to uncover past human and civil rights abuses, foster unity, and facilitate healing in our society through the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Truth Retreats acknowledges that healing and progress hinge on a deep understanding of our shared history, including the dark chapters of racism, slavery, and civil rights struggles.
DAY ONE
Arrival and Check-in at First Class Hotel
Guests arrive in Montgomery and are welcomed by Truth Retreats representatives at their hotel for check-in and registration. (Note: Hotels may vary).
Montgomery City Driving Tour
An insightful city tour covering various historical landmarks like the Court Square Fountain, Slave Warehouse District, Commerce Street, Old Railroad Station, Alabama River Front, Alabama State Capitol, Freedom Riders Museum, King Dexter Ave Church, and Rosa Parks Library.
Dinner, Opening Session/Ice Breaker
Evening program with guest speakers and film screenings.
DAY TWO
Breakfast
Guests start the day with breakfast at the hotel.
Morning Session at EJI Conference Center
Attendees convene for discussions on their Museum Workbook assignments and Selma primer.
Legacy Museum Tour
An enriching tour that includes a catered lunch and a session with EJI staff.
Lunch & Discussion
At EJI Legacy Museum
Depart and Visit to Selma
The visit includes the Journey from Selma to Montgomery, a Q&A session with Selma city officials, a sobering stopover at Live Oak Cemetery, and a commemorative walk on the Edmund Pettus Bridge the site of Bloody Sunday and the battle for voting rights and equality.
Dinner and Entertainment
Evening program with speakers.
DAY THREE
Breakfast
Guests start the day with breakfast at the hotel.
Visit to the Memorial of Peace and Justice
A visit to the monument commemorating victims of lynching and racial injustice.
Visit to Southern Poverty Law Center
A Film Presentation and discussion dedicated to DEI and fighting hate and bigotry of all forms.
DEI Leadership Workshop and Southern Soul Food Lunch
The final session includes DEI remarks, follow-up action discussion, T&R certificate awards, and a hearty Southern lunch.

Please book departing flights from Montgomery after 4:30 pm.
