This experience will help participants understand past human and civil rights abuses, foster unity, and facilitate healing in our society through the principles of DEI and cultural humility.
In preparation for an immersive journey
into significant historical sites like the Legacy Museum and the Memorial of Peace and Justice, we offer an engaging session focused on self-awareness and understanding the roots of racism, slavery, and mass incarceration. These experiences provide invaluable insights, a crucial historical context of the African American experience, and the rich history of the civil rights movement. Participants will also explore iconic landmarks in Montgomery and engage with Alabama State University, fostering a deep connection with the local community and linking the struggles of the modern civil rights era (1954–1968) to contemporary social justice issues.
A key component of our program is a visit to Selma, Alabama a city with a profound civil rights history.
At the conclusion of the tour experience, we provide an intensive DEI workshop to help participants determine next steps in their DEI journey.
For those who wish to stay longer in Alabama, we offer an optional extension for a day of relaxation and reflection at the Robert Trent Jones Grand National Golf Course and Spa in Auburn/Opelika.
